Benefit ''They're Real'' Mascara review.

I've been waiting a long time to do a review on this mascara, over a month actually! But i wanted to make sure I'd had enough time to experience the product to give a fair judgement and give all the good and bad points possible.
First Look:
The packaging its very sleek, and unlike normal mascaras is more of a rectangular tube, this makes it easier to put on flat surfaces and prevents it from rolling everywhere! The colour of the packaging is a purpley silver, baring the title 'they're real' in orange and black. It is a snazzy piece, and looks as expensive as the price which is £18.50. Although, as you can see in the photo, the colour does wear from friction on the corners and also has accumulated some scratches, but that's from being in my make-up bag for so long! It is very sturdy and feels almost like metal.
Peaking inside:
The consistency of the product is very wet and thick but light. It is definitely a black mascara, no fading of colour once applied at all, it is very opaque. Also its very good at latching onto your lashes, meaning you do not miss any one, and because of the consistency, it does not dry quickly, meaning you have plenty of time to create your desired look, and make sure your lashes are separated nicely without snagging any off your lashes.This also means that the product should not dry up as quickly, meaning you should have this mascara in your make-up collection for a long time without flaking and feeling like you've lost out on your penny's! I've tested this out and it really does last all day, your eyelashes may droop a little throughout the day if not curled before application, but other than that it is a winner in my eyes! (see what i did there)
The Wand:
It is made out of plastic apposed to bristles and is bendy allowing it to adjust to the angle you push it. It has many large and small plastic bristles helping to catch any lashes which may have darted out of your vision, these also help separate your lashes nice and evenly, minimising clumps. The tip of the wand, as you can see in the picture, also has these plastic bristles and they are excellent at creating that finishing touch, coating and separating your lashes in hard to place areas. Such as the inner corners of your eyes and those stubborn lashes at the end off your eye that always clump together - in my case anyway. It isn't a particularly chunky wand either which is nice, you can easily glide through your lashes without touching your upper lid and smudging your eyeshadow or eyebrows - believe me its possible!
The Rundown:
So this is what the mascara looks like on my eyelashes, after being curled. Naturally my eyelashes are quite long, but this mascara gives it them the 'pop' they needed. I wiggle the wand from the base off my lashes to the top, i press quite firmly at the base and blink quite hard to get right into every eyelash to create maximum volume. Using the tip off the wand held vertically i push up to separate the lashes and make them defined. I also close my eyes and run the wand on the tips of them to increase the length. For my bottom lashes i roll the wand in between two fingers and put it underneath them to create lift and make sure i don't touch the skin underneath them. This is also where the tip comes in handy as you can reach the inner corners off your lower lid without your eyes panicking and blinking. I usually do not put this mascara on my bottom lashes because i find its to heavy for them, and throughout the day it smudges onto my skin, this could be because of my concealer as well, as it is a wet consistency too.
The Good :)
You can see the benefits off this product through the photos and points Ive made, but here's overall list of the pros's.
- Only needs to be applied in one or two coats to achieve full potential in the product.
- Wet consistency means it lasts longer
- Brush is perfect for hard to reach area's and also separates the lashes
The Bad :(
Yes, although this is a great mascara, it is not perfect.
- Can make bottom lashes droopy and smudge onto your skin underneath
- At the end off the day it can be quite hard to remove
- Expensive
My Opinions
Apart from the smudging under the eyes, overall i love this mascara, and is probably the best I've ever owned. Although it is one of the more expensive mascaras around, it lives up to its expectations and represents the price tag and i would definitely repurchase. There is nothing i would change about the mascara, it makes my lashes big and fluffy which completely finishes off my look. Definitely a 'must have' in a girls make-up bag.
